My paintings are abstractions of visual memories. The surface, colors, and shapes take on their own essence. Sometimes, rather than being something remembered, the work is a process of discovery. It is always a distillation of the experience of making the artwork itself. I begin with charcoal on canvas as a reference to a remembered shape or sometimes just a doodle. When I add the color and texture of acrylic, it is then that the piece begins to take on a life of its own. Each viewer will have a singular interaction with my work. I welcome your unique experience with my paintings. |
